A sad day....

A moment of silence for David Halberstam. He was killed today in a car accident. He was one of the great writers of our time.

And....

I am working on a new Martini Man piece, hope to have it up soon.

Well, no, NBC should not have aired the gunman's video. They should have waited a few days....what could they have lost waiting? Only the police department and the network had the video. The cops would have withheld the video. Anybody would have. Did their ratings go up that much from airing it? Probably not. And they most likely gave the video to the other networks
and they showed it even more. I hope NBC learns from this.

A lesson in writing....conservative writing

I have been thinking lately about how to write like a conservative. The first lesson is to make sure anyone who thinks differently than you is labeled a traitor to America, a communist, a LIBERAL, a wishy washy mushy touchy feely catapillar of a human being who must be run out of town on a rail. Blame everything wrong with the world in general and America in particular on liberals. And any presidents in the past who even slightly thought a certain way, like with compassion, are traitors and should be forgotten and their graves salted.
I'll have more lessons tomorrow.

California Legislature

I heard a news story on the radio the other day, it was about the Claifornia Legislature, and how they were so busy they could not get to some of their duties. I was thinking that maybe we could outsource their jobs to India, or Ireland, or any other English speaking country. What kind of people are we voting for anyway? They don't have time to do what they were elected to do? Do they think we are some kind of new fools? These guys....
Well, what do you think about this?

Some thoughts

Here are some thoughts I had in the past few days.
What is with Don Imus? Or maybe I should say, what is
with white people? I don't recall this kind of
behaviour in the media back in the 70s. THere was
scripted Archie Bunker and Fred Sanford. But these
guys like Imus and Michael Richards letting loose with
their anger is strange. Who ever kept them from doing
anything in their lives? When were they ever chased
out of some restaurant or told to leave a restaurant
because of their skin color? What gives? I saw Borat
this weekend, and the sequence with the frat boys was
enlightening. Well, maybe that's naive. It was odd to
hear what people think, but it always comes out when
they are drunk and feeling relaxed. And now Sharpton
and Jackson have to be involved. So Imus gets
suspended.
Some white guys are angry because racist
jokes are no longer acceptable. I think its more than
that. I think most of these people just don't like
people who look different than they do. And never
will.
So now the Duke lacross team has been cleared, and the one guy on the news says he is shocked by how the justice system works, and how it must be really bad if you don't have the money to help yourself get out of jail. Welcome to the real world. You guys were accused and judged in the media and in people's minds without a trial. What was it like 100 years ago if you were black and accused of just LOOKIING at a white woman?
Well, that's just my opinion.....
What say you?

April 4 2007 outrage...!

Big anger tonight. Robert Clark, film director was killed early this morning by a drunk driver on Pacific Coast Highway in a head on collision in his car. I am so angered by this incident. I can't understand why people drive when they drink. The guy who allegedgely did this must not have an ounce of sense in his head. And I wonder how much jail time he will do for this crime if convicted? What was he thinking? Was he thinking? This is a tragedy in our time when a creative person is killed like this. This man and his son were taken from us by a person who cannot think for himself and probably only thought about how cool he looked in a big SUV while cruising down the highway.
Next....
Overseas, in Iran, the President of Iran, whatever his name is, released the British sailors and marines and made some remarks about Britain and its history in the middle east. Well, I hate to tell the guy this, but the Brits have not really been a power in the middle east since the U.S. kicked them out after they put the Shah in power after getting rid of Mossedegh back in the mid 50s. So what has Iran given us since they kicked out the Shah? Anybody? That's right. Nothing except pictures of people in the streets raising their fists yelling death to white people. I am sure the people of Iran are nice enough, but their leaders are surely wasting a lot of their peoples' time. There is no real economy there except protesting. What are they making to contribute to the world? What are they creating? Is their government letting their artists create freely? No. So what good is their leadership? Why is it that more is coming out of China than Iran? What cars have ever been designed in Iran? What has been designed in Iran in 28 years? If you come up with an answer, write to me, i'll listen.
